"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today -- let us move forward with strong and active faith."

The symbol for the International Relations (IR) Policy Center incorporates the design used for the School of International Service at American University. The olive branches signify the pursuit of peace, as they historically have, and clasped hands -illustrating a sense of friendship and cooperation -embrace the olive branches, as well as a map of the world. Combined with the traditional Roosevelt emblem, this symbol perfectly illustrates IR Policy Center's goals of forward thinking in international relations.

In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, IR Policy Center looks into the future. Students in this center don't just see the needs of today, or even of tomorrow, but rather the needs of the next decade. Students work together under a mutual understanding that no action is without its consequence. Therefore, the best way to provide for today is by ensuring there will be a tomorrow worth reaching.

The issue sub-centers of the IR Center mirror the interdisciplinary studies of the School of International Service fairly closely and include:

International Communications
International Development (Millennium Development Goals)
International Economics
International Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies
International Security
US Foreign Policy

But may also include geographic divisions depending upon the needs and interests of policy center members, present, past and future.

Don't forget to check out the Discussion Fora on these and other topics located here.
