Welcome to the largest section of the Brown Policy Review: health policy. We deal with many different topics such as disparities in health, access, and coverage of care, quality of medical practice, and emerging diseases. As a center, we have focused on understanding health in the greater economic, political, and social arenas. We are exploring health policy on local, national, and international levels.
In the past semester, we have prepared the publication of our second full edition. Through establishing relations with professors in an array of departments including community health and public policy, we were able to solicit the submission of several papers in a wide variety of subjects. The pieces deal with a variety of topics including Tuberculosis and the international prison systems, sexual education in America, and an examination of the largely unregulated dietary supplements industry. This year we will be hosting a health policy conference with the Yale chapter of the Roosevelt Institution on March 20th. Ira Magaziner will be speaking and our center will be presenting policy research on both local and international issues. We hope to gather and present a range of student viewpoints on these vital issues of health policy. Our center stives to participate in the creation of future health policy.
