Public Affairs

The Roosevelt Institution produces great policy. Making sure that people know about Roosevelt and what our Research Fellows are doing is the job of the Public Relations Team. We help students publish Op-eds in newspapers and their policy pieces in publications. We organize press conferences, plan and run major events, contact newspaper editors and reporters to facilitate articles about Roosevelt finding their way into the periodicals, publicize the organization and recruit new members, work with the Financial Development team to plan fundraisers, work with the Legislative out-reach team to get policy written by our fellows to Lawmakers, and work with other organizations on campus to plan joint events and coordinate projects.

Recruitment Events:

Tabling: We will be tabling in the Quad for the first two weeks of school. Come visit and talk to us! Please. We'll be there until two. It could get boring without you.

Making Democracy Work: One of the Roosevelt Challenges this year is how to make our democratic system work for the people it is supposed to serve. A popular sentiment here on campus is that students are interesting and cares what is going on in Washington, but they feel disenfranchised and that their votes are powerless to make their views count. So, the Roosevelt Institution will be hosting a session for students to come and talk about how to make your vote count again. You don't have to be a Roosevelt member, or even have any interest in joining to come. And, of course, Pizza will be provided free of charge. 7pm in Hart 1130, 10/11/07

Meetings: We will be holding bi-weekly meetings in the fall for prospective members to come and check us out, with some free pizza to sweeten the deal. First meeting on October 1st and 4th, 7pm, in Olson 207.
