Green Move-Out GW Roosevelt is proud to announce the third annual Green Move-Out initiative, taking place from May 1-21, 2008. All members are encouraged to sign up!
Green Move-Out is a major university initiative, organized through an unprecedented partnership of students and staff, to make the college move-out process more environmentally and community friendly. By collecting and donating clothes, knick-knacks, food, books, and school supplies, and properly disposing of hazardous material and electronic waste, we're helping to reduce the amount of waste, spread awareness on campus, promote an atmosphere of environmentalism, and give a helping hand to local charities and organizations. A clothing, non-perishable foods, and household furnishings drive will be held in the residence halls through the last weeks of school and a "Green Carnival" with vendors, food, and music will be held on select weekends during move-out. This is the third annual Green Move-Out, and in order to make it an even bigger success than previous years, we need your help. You can sign up to be a student volunteer or residence hall captain for the clothing drive and Green Carnival, and help make a difference on your campus. And if you need to meet volunteer hour commitments for an organization, Green Move-Out qualifies. For a minimum of 6 volunteer hours, you’ll get extended stay until commencement in the residence halls, training, and a free, official Green Move-Out t-shirt!

What is the Roosevelt Institution at GW?
We are the nation's first student-led think tank, and the only group on campus of our kind. We think progressively, in the legacies of Theodore, Franklin, and Eleanor Roosevelt. We are a non-profit, non-partisan group; our membership represents all shades of the political spectrum. We are neither left nor right, but we move forward with change that affects the lives of all citizens, and endeavor to ensure that life in our communities is improved through sound and intelligent policy.
The policy we develop is all student led and produced, with no agenda from any organization outside of Roosevelt. We believe that by basing our work in dedicated research, we can create solutions that are not only pragmatic, but also inherently fair and focused.
We encourage everyone and anyone interested in working with our nation's vibrant policy community to get involved. We also encourage those with talents in organizing groups of people and ensuring the operations of a real think tank to get involved.
Through our efforts, we hope to prepare the next generation of decision makers for work in the policy community, and to introduce policy ideas that will have real effects on the lives of real people.
How will this take shape at GW? We will act as a discussion forum and outlet for student ideas and awareness right here in the GW community, our campus and our city. Keep your eyes peeled for towhall-style debates and speaking events. Look to policy center meetings as an open forum for your ideas and a place to work with fellow members on specific initiatives to address policy that concerns you. Check out our weekly op-ed in the Daily Colonial and other publications on campus.
Most importantly, however, help us make Roosevelt work for you. Let us know your ideas about making an effective organization for GW students' ideas about public policy. Want to see a niche filled? Let us know. We're here for you!
