“We like the way YOU think”

Our theme for the 2007-2008 school year surrounds the idea of “We like the way you think”. All of your ideas can make a difference in the world.

Our Mission

The Roosevelt Institution is the first non-partisan national student think tank that acts as a conduit for ideas to reach the policy discourse. We are here to make the leaders of tomorrow and to teach them about policy and leadership.

What makes this organization unique is that we are run only by college students! We are the ones making the changes; we are the ones who create the policies for public discourse. Here at the University of Hartford we are committed to spreading the word about the Roosevelt Institution and building a campus-community base.

Chapter History

Roosevelt Chapter at The University of Hartford was established in Fall 2005. On September 18th, 2006 we officially established our roots on the University of Hartford campus with our National Liftoff Event. We had guest speakers Congressman John Larson, Mayor Scott Slifka of West Hartford, and Mayor Eddie Perez of the city of Hartford.

Following the event on September 19, 2006 we officially became recognized as an organization by the Student Government Association. We are still growing in number, and would love to welcome new members. For the Spring 2008 semester, we intend on producing a policy paper on an aspect of National's Community Development Challenge.

We were honored and excited, as a few members of our chapter attended the SCEPR Symposium at UNC-Chapel Hill from March 3-5 2006; to present their proposal for the reconstruction of New Orleans (Green Architecture and Building) and recently featured in an edition of The Hartford Observer. It was a great success for the Roosevelt Institution as well as our chapter.

What You Can Do!

Eleanor Roosevelt once said "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." We are the future, we have dreams, and that is something beautiful.

We are always open to new ideas. You can participate or share ideas by writing policy papers, helping with fund-raisers, and planning events.
