Stanford - 1/27 Update: Four Centers Operational, More on the Way

STANFORD, California — Jan. 27 — With four policy centers operational and others having organizational meetings this week, the Roosevelt Institution has passed another benchmark on its way to becoming one of the nation’s preeminent think tanks. The Roosevelt Institution Centers on International Development, Democracy, and Health; Environment and Energy; Progressive Religious Perspectives; and Science, Technology, Bioethics, and Space have launched, and other centers will soon follow.

"I could not have asked for a more promising group of students," said Chrissie Coxon, director of the Center on International Development, Democracy, and Health. "Now that the center has organized and the fellows have met, the Roosevelt vision is becoming a reality."

After their launches, the policy centers will continue recruiting new fellows, developing relationships with faculty and community mentors, and writing the Roosevelt Institution’s inaugural policy papers.

When the Roosevelt Institution officially launches on February 8th, its centers will be fully functional, broadcasting student policy ideas to the public.

"This is what we’ve dreamed of," said Roosevelt Institution President Kai Stinchcombe. "We will be publishing student work in no time."

The Roosevelt Institution is a think tank devoted to bringing the policy research of college students to the attention of academia, media, and government.
