Stephen Elliott Meets with Roosevelt's Center on the Media

STANFORD, CA - April 7 - Author and political columnist Stephen Elliott met with the Roosevelt Institution's Center on the Media at Stanford to discuss his experiences on the campaign trail of the 2004 Presidential Election, his impressions of U.S media, and his latest book.

"Stephen Elliott traveled through the swing states of the 2004 Presidential Election, rode on the campaign and saw how campaign politics and campaign coverage work firsthand. It was a delight to hear his stories and discuss the role of the media in campaign coverage," said Robert Samet, Director of Roosevelt's Center on the Media.

Elliott read some selections from his book Looking Forward to It: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the American Electoral Process and shared his impressions of the U.S media, especially in its coverage of campaigns.

"I believe strongly that the media is a force of good," Elliott said. "We should force the candidates to talk to the media more. How to do that, of course, is another story."
