STANFORD, California - May 3 - The Roosevelt Institution hosted a screening of "This Divided State" along with Campus Progress and the Stanford Progressive on Stanford University's campus today.

Last fall, a visit from filmmaker Michael Moore to Utah State Valley College caused so much controversy that a film was quickly created to capture the fervor. “This Divided State,” directed by Brigham Young University student Steven Greenstreet, chronicles the personal stories of those embroiled in the controversy, as well as opinions of the community at large.

"'This Divided State' was a great example of why and how religion influences people's political beliefs and how diverse this influence can be. This movie was an incredibly important contribution to the ongoing dialogue on religious values in America," said Becca Miller, co-director for the Center on Progressive Religious Perspectives.

After the screening, director Steven Greenstreet joined students in conversation about the movie and politics and religion in America.
