The University of Michigan Roosevelt Institution is proud to present dream.DETROIT, a community development project which seeks to help reinvigorate and revitalize the city of Detroit through policy solutions and inspired student activism.

As a part of a larger, nationwide network of student think tanks, the UofM Roosevelt chapter is compelled to use our policy ideas/resources to make a local impact.  This year, the UofM Roosevelt fellows have taken an active interest in community development and will continue to focus on rebuilding Detroit through a variety of innovative policy initiatives throughout the year.

This year-long multi-series project will analyze art/urban development, healthcare, economic, environmental and civil rights perspectives. Throughout the academic year, UofM Roosevelt Institution policy centers will hold a variety of events highlighting their policy research.

In April, the policies developed by our fellows will be published, and implemented in a variety of ways including national community development challenge publications, regional great lake initiative publication/policy event as well as local implementation efforts through partnerships with other student organizations and local contacts/networks. It is our hope that this project will inspire UofM Roosevelt fellows to develop ideas which provide the city of Detroit with policy alternatives and foster change within the community.
