Mission Statement:

Of the 6.5 billion human beings in the world, from the wealthiest corporate executive to the most remote goat herder of Mongolia, there is one thing that binds us all—a complete dependence on the bounty of Mother Earth. The environment is our most important resource, for with an unlivable earth, there is nothing. In this age of ever-increasing technological advances and industrial development, it is imperative for the quality of our natural world to be preserved. Without ignoring the human needs of economic improvement and growth, new and innovative public policy must be implemented to ensure that we do not devastate our world and thus all our lives in the quest for prosperity. The Center for the Environment is dedicated to the ideal that it is our sacred duty to preserve and protect this world for ourselves and future generations. To this end, we strive to create and distribute novel public policy ideas and to educate our fellow students and citizens about these issues. For example, last year, we wrote several policy proposals on the revitalization of New Orleans and organized talks on greenhouse gas emissions. This year we hope to build on the ideas of our new members and do even more!
