| Center on the EnvironmentMiddlebury's Center on the Environment is rooted in the idea of environmental responsibility. As a developed and innovative nation, we are charged with a simply stated duty: protect the environment. Environmental issues still do not receive the respect and attention that is needed for effective action. This center provides the framework for discourse on environmental issues on a local, regional, and global level. Beyond providing this framework, the Environmental Policy Center wants to utilize the college's resources to research and develop legislative projects. We want to further materialize the environmentally concerned spirit that already exists within Middlebury's campus. January 10th, 2007 The EPC is creating political progress through a mix of researching and writing with more tangible activities. We are developing two policy ideas: one which focuses on the transfer of green technology to developing countries and another which calls for mandatory green construction in federally funded buildings. We are also finalizing our spring symposium on Energy Independence and hosting several screenings to connect policy to real life.
