The Roosevelt Institution at Otis Steering Committee The steering committee is a body of directors from the policy branch and the admin team that makes important decisions for the chapter. The group includes the Policy Director, the center directors, the Admin Director, and the directors on the admin team. Any major decisions, such as determining goals for the year, is voted on by the committee. This group usually meets once a month, or whenever a decision has to be made. One of the chapter heads will present the agenda and what has to be voted on. The steering committee provides accountability, oversight and guidance to the chapter heads, and also helps retain key members in the chapter by enabling them to have input on important matters and making them feel valued. Often in developing chapters, one branch leads the chapter more than the other. Because both branches of the chapter are involved, the committee prevents this from happening also helps to unify the chapter behind the vision and goals for the year.
