Business Policy and Economic Issues:

Definition:
This area of study focuses on the world economy, and the interaction between countries, regulatory systems and business firms. Special consideration is attributed on: micro/macro interaction, commerce architecture and international players: states, IO’s (World Bank, IMF) and NGO’s.

Guidelines:
Topics should not gravitate around oversaturated socio-economic statistics but rather pinpoint how various elements such as the: standard of living, investment or technologies embed into a contemporary economy.
Indeed, the proposed area of study is design as a critical thinking study and not as a measure on acclaiming fictive or outdated programs. For example, discussions around the effects of monetary/fiscal policies enacted by central banks/governments should not be stereotyped to an in-vitro, cause-effect recipe but investigated according to the peculiar workings of national economies: infrastructure, bureaucracy, corruption, and business culture.

Areas of interest:
- International Trade
- International Finance
- Global Political Economy
- Theories of International Business
- Econometrics & Economic Models

Agenda:
Besides scheduled meetings offered by the Roosevelt Institute interested students should consider several events pertaining to International Business and Economics:

• Selected Colloquiums
• In-class presentations
Economics and Finance Society
Economics National Honor Society
