An exclusive group of Roosevelt Institution scholars congratulated for exceptional knowledge in a field of study, excellence in policy innovation, and eloquence in written and oral communication.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the Senior Fellows program is broad. Fundamentally, the organization hopes to increase credibility and public recognition by demonstrating the ability of its Fellows to speak fluently on complex topics and policy issues. The recognition of the fellows themselves grows with the organization’s reputation, creating an incentive for future participation. Additionally, this program establishes a unique opportunity to promote the Challenges curriculum, through Fellows’ appearances and commentary, advancing the organization’s annual policy focus and ideas.
COMMITMENT: Senior Fellows are ambassadors for the Roosevelt Institution. This relationship requires a high level of commitment to the organization and will be rewarded accordingly, with exposure to and participation in the institution’s most meaningful opportunities. By accepting this title, Senior Fellows agree to serve as spokespeople for the Roosevelt Institution in their area of research. These responsibilities include traveling to major events to present policy pieces, participating in panel discussions, submitting rapid response editorial pieces, and coordinating related policy initiatives among Roosevelt chapters nationwide. Nationwide members of the institution view Senior Fellows as “peer mentors” and, as such, expect encouragement and guidance from Senior Fellows. A team of national staff members dedicated to training and creating opportunities for every Senior Fellow are committed to meeting the needs of this program and its participants.
OPPORTUNITIES: As a Senior Fellow, you’ll have access to:
• Appearances on TV and Radio
• Dedicated columns or placements in magazines, newspapers and blogs
• Featured speaking opportunities at national conferences
• Placement on internal and external conference panels
• Skills training
• Expanded personal networks
