Moving Forward after Katrina: A Student Policy Symposium
Extended deadline for Tulane students- 02.06.05
Direct applications and questions to Alicia Raia

If you’re working on research or policy proposals relating to rebuilding New Orleans, disaster relief, or emergency preparedness, we want those ideas to get heard. Apply to the Roosevelt Institution policy symposium on emergency preparedness and relief—you’ll work with experts in the field and students across the country to put forward substantive ideas for improving the nation’s capacity for protecting and preparing in emergency situations. Symposium will be held March 3-5 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Scholarships available.

SCEPR Symposium Mission | The horror that was Hurricane Katrina exposed devastating gaps in U.S. disaster relief policy. In response, the Roosevelt Institution’s Special Center for Emergency Preparedness and Relief (SCEPR), headquartered at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is soliciting and guiding projects undertaken by students in a variety of disciplines at Roosevelt Institution chapters across the country. UNC-CH has drawn together a team of experts and editors to evaluate and workshop the policy projects; outstanding policy projects will be selected for publication in a special Roosevelt report. Find a list of possible policy topics and more about SCEPR at the website.

DETAILS | How to Apply:
