The Perfect Presidential Platform



April 11 and 12, 2008




The Perfect Presidential Platform is a two-day conference intended to provide participants the opportunity to voice their opinions and craft creative solutions to five key policy challenges in the upcoming presidential election. These five issues are as follows: the War in Iraq, immigration, energy, taxes, and health care. Participants will be broken up into groups depending upon their ideological preference and their issue of choice. They will work in teams to develop creative policies that collectively represent a spectrum of ideas. Participants will have breakout sessions with policy experts from the state and region, as well as leading University of Georgia faculty. Following the sessions with faculty members, teams will write their policies, debate their ideas, and finally select a top proposal for each of the five categories -- generating the "perfect presidential platform." This conference will serve as an opportunity for Roosevelt chapters from across the nation to come together and share ideas.

All expenses will be covered upon arrival in Atlanta or Athens. Expenses include food, travel, and accommodations. Travel expenses to and from Georgia will be covered to some extent depending upon need.

We are asking for a $50.00 hotel fee for all participants. If you are unable to pay this please select the appropriate response on the online registration and we will inform you about the prospects for a fee waiver.

For those flying into Atlanta you should arrive by 8pm at the lastest on Thursday, April 10. Your returning flight should be no later than 6:30pm on Saturday, April 12.
