Kai Stinchcombe is a PhD candidate in political science at Stanford, writing a dissertation on the California budget process. He is the founder and former executive director of the Roosevelt Institution, where he served on staff for two years. Before founding the Roosevelt Institution he was president of the Stanford Democrats during the 2004 election, the editor of the Stanford Progressive, and a columnist and editorial board member of the Stanford Daily. While earning a BA in history and math at Colorado College he led one of the first successful campus living wage campaigns in the country. He is on the California Democratic Party Central Committee and has served as an advisor, board member, or consultant to several Bay Area nonprofits including the Rockridge Institute, the Peninsula Democratic Coalition, and the Saga Foundation.
