Policy interests: Education, Political strategy
I'm a third year math/public policy student. I'm pretty interested both in math and politics, but ultimately, I plan to work towards my Ph.D. in education. I've always believed that the most important and substantial thing anyone can do is influence someone else for the better, and to those ends, the most influential people in my life have been my teachers. I also can clearly see that the U.S. has fallen behind in the education of our youth, specifically, the mathematical education. I plan to work in Mathematics Education, primarily as a researcher and innovator, secondarily as a advocate for better public policy in these areas.
Outside of the academic spheres, I'm a Psi Upsilon brother, a member of the board of directors for the annual UChicago Progressive Gala, and an avid tennis player.
Other than that, I love emo/punk rock bands - Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, and The Starting Line - in addition to alt. rock bands/artists like Coldplay, DMB, and Snow Patrol. I would kill for the Cubs to win the world series, and you better believe I'd be in near Wrigley Field for all of it.
Right now, I'm an assistant editor for the UChicago School Math Project, working on the Geometry book. I work under the genius known as Zalman Usiskin, an incredible professor in the now defunct UChicago Education department. I'm also a TA for the introductory Calculus sequence here.
