"Progress has brought us both unbounded opportunities and unbridled difficulties. Thus the measure of our civilization will not be that we have done much, but what we have done with that much."

My name is Jenna Whiteley, I am a freshman from a small semi-rural town in New Jersey. I plan on being a sociology major, with either a Psychology or American Studies minor. I am very interested in non-profit work. I have had limited but informative hands-on experience in both a mentoring social service agency and a foundation. I have also run fundraisers of my own, including hosting a 5k race at my high school. In the future I would like to start my own non-profit, probably an agency, but am still unsure what section of service I am interested in getting involved in. As a freshman I am still exploring the many activities Stanford has to offer. My search has led me to Rugby in the fall, as well as many different speakers and meetings including Howard Dean, Governor Ryan, Intro to Buddhism, and the Unitarian Universalists. Being involved in the Roosevelt Institution, especially at its inception, would truly be an amazing opportunity.
