Center on International Development Marley Kornreich is a junior majoring in International Relations, with a functional specialization in Comparative International Political Economy, and in Economics. Born and raised in Arizona, Marley represented Phoenix as a Youth Ambassador to Prague, Czech Republic, studied in San Jose, Costa Rica, and attended Chaparral High School, graduating at the top of her class. At Stanford, Marley is a member of Cap and Gown, Stanford’s Women’s Honor Society; received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence in the Freshman Year; teaches English to custodial workers as a member of HablalaNoche; is a mentor to a teenager coping with a parent’s cancer as a member of Mensola; and is a volunteer Spanish translator for an East Palo Alto website geared to enhancing immigrant community activism and participation. She participated in Sophomore College, studied abroad in Santiago, Chile, and taught English in a “favela” located in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. The grandchild of Holocaust survivors, integrity and tolerance are an integral part of Marley’s life. Currently, Marley’s academic interests include studying economic and human development in Latin America, where she hopes to gain meaningful employment post-graduation. This summer she will be working at the World Bank in Brazil. She also loves eating chocolate and spending time with friends.
