Biographical Information:

Meredith Bell is a first-year undergraduate hailing from Colorado Springs, CO. She plans to major in English with an emphasis in creative writing, and is considering minors in such diverse areas as international relations, astronomy, and history. Meredith is interested in a variety of social and political issues. She spent the summer of 2002 working with the National Park Service on Ocracoke Island, NC, with particular focus on helping threatened bird populations and endangered sea turtles. During the 2003-2004 school year, she was particularly involved in establishing a Gay-Straight Alliance at her local high school despite the (entirely illegal) objections of the ultra-conservative school board, and her involvement with the legal aspect of the case continues today. In the summer of 2005, Meredith will spend seven weeks volunteering in an African refugee camp as a FORGE Ambassador. At present, she is highly involved in preparing, developing and fundraising for her micro-project involving refugee youth.
