Policy interests: Education, Poverty and social justice, Voting rights

A member of The Roosevelt Institution since January 2005, Eric's main interests in policy research address matters of self-sustaining inequality such as that induced by substantial differences in the quality of educational opportunities provided to various segments of our population and functional disenfranchisement - both formal, as in the disenfranchisement of felons or voting fraud, and informal, as in poor civic education.

He believes that the Roosevelt Institution, by tapping into the motivated, concerned, and intelligent knowledge base of America's students, can provide this nation with the potential for improved policy implementations across a variety of issues and that such an entity is greatly needed within the culture of American politics.

Eric grew up in Los Angeles in a family that encouraged active involvement in the surrounding community. At the age of 14, he left California to attend high school at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. While there, he pursued a challenging curriculum including advanced work in mathematics and the physical and social sciences. Outside of the classroom, Eric was an active participant in community service endeavors ranging from tutoring the youngsters at the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club to his involvement with the Andover Interfaith Council, an organization that promoted religious tolerance and understanding.

While studying at Stanford during his undergraduate years, Eric focused on policy implementations in both his academic work and his extracurricular activities. He engaged in political science research on democratic theory and economic research on both American economic inequality and Social Security reform. Eric graduated from Stanford in June 2008 with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and a B.S. in Mathematics, earning Distinction for the quality of his academic record.

Eric is currently an 1L at Yale Law School, hoping to pursue a JD/MPP program, followed by a career in public policy research and advocacy. He is currently working on projects in the areas of social security reform, corporate governance, and state-promoted voluntarism.
