Carissa Cahill is currently studying International Business at the University of South Carolina. After living eleven years outside of the continental United States in Puerto Rico and Mexico City, she realized that she has a true passion for diversity and the Latin culture. She started a chapter of the Roosevelt Institution at the University of South Carolina when she became aware that so few students are politically active. "USC is only footsteps away from the State House... I would like to see South Carolina's State House welcome USC students, and the student body take advantage of the opportunity." Carissa also actively participates in the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the National Society of Colegiate Scholars, the Global Business Council, and Students Associated with Latin America. She is an intern at Hispanic Connections, Inc., as well as a Spanish tutor for graduate students pursuing a degree in Latin American Studies. She hopes that the Roosevelt Institution at USC will inspire students to not only make a difference in South Carolina, but also in the world.
