Olivia Katz was born and raised in New York City where she attended The Spence School. She is currently a senior at Middlebury College in Vermont where she is majoring in Political Science and minoring in French and English. Olivia's first involvement with the Roosevelt Institution was in 2006 as a member of the International Affairs Center at Middlebury, which she now heads. Since then she has worked for the Roosevelt Institution in various capacities: as a member of the communications and development teams and most recently as the National Policy Coordinator for the Energy Challenge. As Energy Challenge Coordinator, Olivia is working with the national energy steering committee and Roosevelt chapters nationwide to develop innovative policy ideas about how to reduce American dependence on foreign, harmful and unsustainable energy. She is helping to coordinate challenge league policy competitions at various Roosevelt chapters throughout the spring. The culmination of these efforts will be the publication of Roosevelt's 25 Energy Ideas, which will present the 25 best ideas from the millennial generation about how to address this challenge.
In addition to working for the Roosevelt Institution, Olivia serves as the Director of Environmental Affairs for Middlebury's student government, and is a member of the Environmental Council and Middlebury's oldest all female a cappella group- The Middlebury Mischords. She is currently working part-time for Boston Commons, a socially responsible investment firm.
