Kaitlin A Towner
School: University of Michigan Member of: Center on Health Care Policy interests: Healthcare, International development I'm a third year African American/African Studies and History major. I'm interested in global public health issues, specifically HIV/AIDS. I'm interested inequality in ART access, and more broadly, how AIDS and poverty reinforce each other. I am involved in a student group called Open Your Eyes/Student Global AIDS Campaign (two groups that recently joined). We do AIDS education presentations to other student groups on campus and host events. I've lobbied a couple times in Washington for funding for AIDS programs, and participated in a campaign to pressure political candidates to step up on AIDS issues. I'm also the production director for the Michigan Independent, a progressive student publication. I've written a couple articles about HIV/AIDS in past issues. However, this is my last semester on staff.
