"It behooves every man to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance, and that, in the end, progress is accomplished by the man who does things."

So....

I'm originally from Sudbury, Massachusetts but have been living in various apartments in the lovely midwest for the past 3 years. I also had the wonderful and enlightening chance to study abroad this past spring in Brussels, where I learned more than I ever anticipated about the European Union, intercultural communications, how to decipher Dutch subtitles on TV, and living as an American woman abroad :)

This fall I am a senior year at UW-Madison, finishing up a double major in international studies with a focus on cultures in the age of globalization, and comparative literature. My involvement in local politics stems from a strong interest in women's issues. In Madison, I work with VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood, to promote pro-choice candidates and raise awareness about women's reproductive issues on campus. I also spent this summer in Boca Raton, Florida, interning in both the development/internal affairs and public affairs departments at Planned Parenthood of South Palm Beach and Broward Counties. My dedication in women's issues is rooted in my belief that education and health care should not be altered due to an individual politician, doctor, or teacher's moral beliefs - complete and accurate education and medical services should be made available to all those who seek them. After I graduate I'm planning on pursuing a JD and eventually working for an international women's rights nonprofit organization's to promote equality and fundamental human rights protection for women around the world.
