Policy interests: International security, Sustainability

Blake is a fourth-year Accounting and International Studies major with a Spanish minor at the University of Iowa. His interests are varied and have compelled him to pursue a number of unique opportunities such as studying and working in Spain, assisting a professor with a research paper on political psychology, and participating in policy debate.

Through policy debate Blake researched a myriad of different foreign policies and social issues. He would like to focus on one or two in his upcoming research. Some of the in-depth research he has done includes: nuclear non-proliferation and missile defense, political and psychological underpinnings of terrorism and counterterror policy, the impact of affect on voter decision-making behavior, mental health policy and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), education, 4th amendment law, etc...

Blake recently accepted an internship for summer 2006 in New York as a Hyde Park Conference Associate. He looks forward to meeting representatives from other chapters this summer!
