Tommie Watson

School: Wheaton College, MA

Member of:
Alumni Association
Founding Board

March 2007 -- Progressive San Diego is thrilled to have Tommie Watson join our organization as Operations Director. We believe that having professional staff to complement our volunteer Board is critical to our success moving forward. Tommie will lead our efforts on the ground, building ties with other progressive groups, coordinating with campaigns, and advocating for progressive issues.

Tommie Watson was born and raised in Gloucester, Mass., just north of Boston. He began his work within the progressive community as a student activist. Tommie received his B.A. degree in Sociology with concentrations in political science and psychology at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. He is a founding member of the Roosevelt Institution, the nation's first student think tank. He was a member of Boston Mobilization's Board of Directors, a thirty-year-old progressive community organization that educates, empowers and organizes students and local residents to engage in grassroots campaigns for peace and social justice. Tommie and his "little brother" Caleb became Big Brother Association alumni this past January after a three-year match. Tommie is excited about the challenge of organizing San Diego area progressives into a cohesive movement.
