ADAM BECK, a member of the national editorial board, joined the Roosevelt Institution as the Director of the Senior Fellows program in 2006. He is a junior at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. majoring in political science and is a visiting scholar in government at Georgetown University. He is a native of York, Pennsylvania where he was Senior Counselor to the Mayor in 2005. In early 2006 he was an advisor to former U.S. Rep. Joseph M. Hoeffel (D-PA) prior to being elected by the people of York County to the Democratic State Committee, becoming the youngest member in Pennsylvania history. In May 2007, Adam joined Obama for America, the presidential campaign of Senator Barack Obama, as a member of the national field staff in the Chicago, Illinois headquarters. After leaving the campaign, Adam joined the Washington, D.C. office of Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco as a legislative assistant focused on lobbying Congress for Hurricane Katrina recovery funds. He currently works in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Adam co-hosts "The Political Pulse" on WRGW and is a political commentator for XM Radio's POTUS 2008 channel. He is a national advocate for mental health treatment as member of the Speaker's Bureau of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. Adam has published numerous op-eds on political and public policy matters and been a guest on National Public Radio, CNN, C-SPAN's Washington Journal, the Pennsylvania Cable Network, and WSBA 910-AM. Mr. Beck is an avid reader, poker player, runner, and occasional stand-up comedian.
