Reducing our dependence on foreign, harmful, and unsustainable energy

I'm a first semester graduate student in MechE at GaTech, just retrning from a 4+ year stint in industry.  I am passionate about discovering and implementing innovative solutions for reducing the environmental impact of  energy technologies.  The problems pose simulataneous engineering and political challenges for rethinking they way we produce and consume energy in the world.  However, the solutions will not be a conglomerate of compartmentalized ideas, but will require interdiscipline thought and effort.  In this spirit I am interested in contributing to the Roosevelt Insititutes "Energy Challenge"
