Maria Baldauf serves as the advocacy program coordinator for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Austin, Texas, that inspires and empowers people affected by cancer by supporting public health, advocacy and research programs. In her role with the LAF, Maria speaks of the importance of grassroots advocacy and LAF advocacy program at events within the cancer community, recruits advocates to join the LAF and trains them to serve as voices for survivorship issues, assists with planning LIVESTRONG Day on Capitol Hill, and represents the LAF at other organizations' cancer advocacy events.

At the Roosevelt Institution, Maria is a member of the editorial staff. She serves as the copy editor, working with a team of editors to ensure a consistent style and that the writing coming out of Roosevelt illustrates the quality of the thought its devoted student members contribute.

Previously, Maria started at the LAF as a Communications Coordinator, where she was responsible for writing the monthly LIVESTRONG Newsletter and working with the communications team to write and edit printed and electronic communications. Prior to joining the LAF, Maria was a full-time media relations intern with Public Strategies in Washington, D.C., the same strategic communications consultancy firm she interned with in Austin, Texas, during her final spring semester at the University of Texas. She has also gained experience as an intern for the press office for the Office of Governor Rick Perry, as a communications coordinator for Oxford Financial Group, as a public relations intern for Edelman PR and as an executive assistant for Catholic Volunteers in Florida. Maria graduated from the University of Texas in 2005 with a B.S. in Public Relations.

When not working at the LAF or volunteering for Roosevelt, Maria volunteers for the Next Generation Project and Care Communities, and enjoys outdoor sports (including cycling and running in or volunteering for charity runs/rides), reading and watching documentaries. A former rower, she is currently giving road cycling a try.
