"The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the goverment."

Kate Glassman is, as of fall 2008, chapter head of the Roosevelt Institution at Berkeley. She is majoring in Rhetoric with a minor in Public Policy. Kate joined the Roosevelt Institution fall of 2007 by enrolling in the Roosevelt class offered on campus. The Berkeley chapter still functions as a student-run class, or "decal" (Democratic Education at Cal).  Each semester, students enrolled in the decal workshop policy pieces independently using weekly lectures on a variety of progressive policy issues as guides. Kate is in the process of creating a new structure for the Roosevelt class at Berkeley that will focus more on producing collaborative policy pieces to enhance cohesion within the chapter and to encourage critical thinking about each of the six policy centers.
